Battleship Memorial Park & Gulfport Beach
While heading east to Florida we stopped to take a stretch on the beautiful beach of Gulfport, Mississippi. This is the closest beach to New Orleans, so as you can imagine, it’s very popular. We then headed a little further to Mobile, Alabama, where Willie got to walk around Battleship Memorial Park. Both stops were just off of I-10, so they really helped to break up the long drive. We both had to go to the bathroom anyway.
Battleship Memorial Park is a park and museum filled with notable historic military aircraft and ships, including the South Dakota-class battleship USS Alabama and Gato-class submarine USS Drum. It’s located on the western shore of Mobile Bay and is a great place where you can bring your pet for a picnic or just a nice outing away from home.
